Café Scientifique: Negotiation and the New Media
| Presented by Ballston Science and Technology Alliance | |
|
Rachel Croson, Division Director, Social and Economic Sciences, Social Behavioral Sciences, National Science Foundation and Professor, University of Texas at Dallas presents "Negotiation and the New Media" as part of the Café Scientifique series. According to Croson, we all negotiate every day, at work, at home and in our lives more generally. Advances in communication technology mean that we’re often negotiating in new ways. This talk will discuss some of the science of negotiation and how it is affected by different communication media (e.g. email, videoconferencing, etc.). The results yield a deeper understanding of how to we interact and how to improve your negotiating skills. The goal of Café Scientifique is to make science more accessible and accountable by featuring speakers whose expertise spans the sciences and who can talk in plain English. Please come early to order table service and socialize. Special half-price burgers start at 5:30 p.m. Presentation begins at 6:15 p.m. followed by Q&A. No science background required! Café Scientifique is free and open to the public but advanced registration is requested. |
